Posted January 2, 2011. I tried downloading a saved game file, copied it to C:\Users\Johnny5\Documents\GTA Vice City User Files. I tried to start the game from the saved file and it started from the very beginning. I then did an uninstall and a clean install and I'm still getting the same problem.
To do this, find 'gta-vc.exe' in your games folder (Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto Vice City\gta-vc.exe). Right click the file, select 'Properties', click the 'Compatibility' tab and select 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' choosing 'Windows 98' from the available options.

I guess that I have to keep the disc image mounted for now and ever. Not a major drawback, but incredibly puzzling. EDIT: Windows rights issue with the folder, the .exe hadn't actually been replaced. i can highlight options in the menus with the mouse but cant select using mouse click in menus. in game the mouse will not work at all, no look no weapon use nothing. fairly new to steam. looked for a thread regarding this issue and haven't found anything
