Acceleration at lower speeds is mostly based on power to weight so even if you have more power it doesn't mean you'll accelerate faster if your car is heavy. The "High speed" rating is based on gearing, power, and drag. So even if you have a lot of power if your gear ratios are too short you can't reach high speeds with a 5 or 6 speed gearbox
