The first thing I did to improve mileage was to pump up the tires to 37 psi which is 2 psi above the recommended pressure. For every 10*F temperature drop (5*C) the pressure goes down about 1 psi which increases gas consumption about 3% give or take. The 2 psi boost helps with cold AM starts.
